Meiosis 1 Flip Chart

Have you ever watched a cartoon and wondered how they do that? (okay, not the computer animated ones…) Well here is your chance to learn about meiosis while making your own cartoon! Follow the directions below and those given by your instructor to make a flip chart cartoon of meiosis.

Materials needed:

Colored pencils

3 x 5 cards (ten should be enough but feel free to use more if you want to). You may also cut

them in half for more cards

your textbook and notes on meiosis (optional, but helpful)

Directions:

Do Not Staple your cards together until you have them completely finished!!!

1. Using an outline of the process of meiosis, make a story board to determine how many cards you will need. You can always add more cards later if it doesn’t look right when you try it out. Remember you will want sufficient in between drawings to show the movement during meiosis.
2. Your flip chart will need to cover Meiosis 1 only. Show at least two chromosomes in your original cell.

The rubric for grading your flip chart is included below. When your flip chart is completed and stapled, attach it to this rubric to turn in.
